Starting Indoors:
For an earlier bloom time, start sunflower seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost. Use peat pots or biodegradable seed trays to prevent root disturbance during transplanting. Plant seeds ½ inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix and keep them in a warm, sunny location or under grow lights. Once seedlings develop two sets of true leaves, harden them off by gradually introducing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting.
