When should I sow Alaska wildflowers?

Sow seeds in late fall before snowfall or very early spring to allow natural cold stratification through the freeze–thaw cycle for Lupine

Do I need to prepare the soil for wildflowers?

Yes. Clear existing vegetation, lightly rake the surface, and scatter seeds evenly. Fireweed and lupine prefer disturbed soil similar to what you find after snowmelt or along trails.

How much sunlight do Alaska wildflowers need?

Most Alaska natives prefer full sun to partial shade and thrive with 8–12 hours of daylight during summer.

Will these wildflowers reseed themselves?

Yes. Many of these species are perennials that return each year with minimal maintenance.
